
Kito Tenkundo specializes in the sale of premium wood and floral incense in the ancient samurai capital of Kamakura. Established by Minamoto no Yoritomo in the autumn of 1,183 CE, the Kamakura Shogunate saw incense develop its own unique “samurai incense culture." Paying homage to the incense recipes of Kito Tenkundo's founder, the genius perfumer Kito Yujiro who in 1909 created the famous modern incense "Hana no Hana" and "Mainichikō," Kito Tenkundo continues to build upon this historic legacy. Part of the Nippon Kodo Group since 1964, Kito Tenkundo was restored to the ancient capital of Kamakura in 1985.
