Featuring frankincense as its main ingredient, Byōma Tai Senkoh (“disease repelling incense”) blends traditional aromatic ingredients, sandalwood, and frankincense to create a deeply harmonized fragrance that balances the refreshing acidity of frankincense with the moderate sweetness of sandalwood. Frankincense is said to have excellent antibacterial and preservative properties, as well as anti-aging and antioxidant properties, and it is said that merchants who dealt in its trade did not contract infectious diseases. It is a notable traditional Chinese herbal medicine that is often used in aromatherapy.

"Amabie" is a legendary Japanese mermaid with a bird like beak and three tail fins that is said to have appeared in Higo no Kunikai in 1846. Emerging from the sea as a bright shining light, Amabie is said prophesier abundant harvest and epidemics. Iimages of the mythical mermaid continue to be used as talismans for good fortune today. The incense in the Kigan Senko (prayer incense) series are intended as fragrant prayers for good fortune by invoking Amabie.
