Emerging from the sea as a bright shining light, Amabie is said prophesier abundant harvest and epidemics. Iimages of the mythical mermaid continue to be used as talismans for good fortune today. The incense in the Kigan Senko (prayer incense) series are intended as fragrant prayers for good fortune by invoking Amabie.
