Made from a traditional recipe, Ekibyō Tai Senkoh (“epidemic repelling incense”) blends the smooth fragrance of sandalwood with the refreshing citrus note of mandarin orange and other traditional aromatics. Characterized by a deep smooth fragrance that harmonizes the sweetness of sandalwood with the sourness of mandarin orange, Ekibyō Tai Senkoh draws upon ancient beliefs of immortality and longevity of these ingredients noted in two of Japan’s oldest books of recorded history, the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki.

"Amabie" is a legendary Japanese mermaid with a bird like beak and three tail fins that is said to have appeared in Higo no Kunikai in 1846. Emerging from the sea as a bright shining light, Amabie is said prophesier abundant harvest and epidemics. Iimages of the mythical mermaid continue to be used as talismans for good fortune today. The incense in the Kigan Senko (prayer incense) series are intended as fragrant prayers for good fortune by invoking Amabie.
